I had the pleasure of speaking at the SIEDC Business Council session held yesterday at 8am at LiGreci’s Staaten. It was an amazing experience. Special thanks to the SIEDC folks who ran the event such as Alex Porto, Jennifer Miller and Megan Kenny as well as the other representatives I met from the group. The SIEDC does amazing work and I look forward to talking about what they do in future posts - and making some new announcements, too!
I was glad I had documented some of my public speaking hacks for Tuesday's blog post and I definitely relied on using my mix of teaching / presenting skills honed from many many years of practice. I spoke about running a small business and how to use blogging to connect to your audience of potential customers and partners and promoters and more. I spoke about how blogging 5 days a week is a huge part of my business promotional plan - using this content to promote my business by telling my story, sharing my lessons and introducing my skills to potential clients and partners is paramount to what I do. Also, it is my authentic voice -my sharing and my willingness to talk about how the "sausage" is made so to speak in that I have been entrepreneurial for over a decade and I have failed many times - it is in failing, though, that I learned. The topics I spoke about were:
I explained about my social media secrets and how writing is the key for so much of my business. In regards to writing, as one of the participants said when I was mentioning how excited I was when I visited SI Tech and saw my name on the board listing me as being the "College and Career Readiness Expert", “If you write a book, you’re an expert!” I use my publishing and my books to brand my business and to help me reach new audience, new clients and build new courses, products and more to help people be ready for their next steps.

Speaking at the event with copies of the 3 books I have written (the 4th one just published and I do not have a copy yet) and meeting with potential and current clients really brought home how important networking is for any business and for any brand (including you job seekers out there). I am really focused on finding more opportunity for my business to use my The Next Step Online Learning Center and my unique brand of lessons and content based off of my books to tailor on demand in person and online training programs, courses, workshops and more and being involved with the SIEDC is one of the best ways to do it!
The SIEDC is involved with all aspects of economic growth on Staten Island and I feel honored to have been asked to speak at their Business Council. The folks on that council have all done amazing things for business AND the residents of Staten Island. Everyone was amazing and demonstrated the way small business on Staten Island always gives back to the community.
Look for more coming information on the SIEDC and The Next Step over the next few weeks! I have tons more to share and I hope you continue to follow me on my journey as I continue to build my business. If you need a speaker for a local Staten Island event, book me here Speaking Engagements.
Also, you can purchase my books on my website or via my Amazon Author Page.
