My Wish List
As an entrepreneur who also writes (a lot) I have a few items on my wish list to get done this quarter (maybe). I am also project manager and in my past life as someone who created and ran a Project Management Office (PMO) and in various other roles and positions, I have build databases for ease of storing, accessing and sharing information.
I have been quite busy with building out my website, my content, my clients and more on this journey of building my business. I have some exciting things in the works in terms of building more promotion around my business, my books and my website. A lot of these opportunities and things involve my content and my sharing of said content.
My wish list item it to take the time and build out my own database for my content - mainly my blog articles. I find myself knowing what I wrote and having the category specifications on the blog help but I would like to get more detail around what I am creating here via this blog.
For example, this post is my 191st blog post - I am close to 200. I know there are content that I can re-purpose and reuse for my LinkedIn Pulse articles and for other promotional purposes.
It sounds silly, I guess, but I am thinking more long term. When that 191 has a zero at the end of it and it is 1,910 how can I be sure I am using my content for the bulk of its ability? The main key of using content and blogging on this site is to build recognition for my business, to forge new opportunities and perhaps to find clients (of course, this is the biggest thing - I am a small business and as such I need to find and retain and build my client list).
For LinkedIn Pulse articles, I generally take a blog post and build off of it to make it unique and more detailed. It helps me to build my business and reach an audience of my 2000+ LinkedIn connections that are potential networking partners, clients and colleagues.
I take snippets from my text in my articles and build it into photos and share it via Instagram and Twitter and other ways. If I had my database set up, I could use the content more effectively in terms of using the Instaquotes photos with my words on it taken from certain posts to build out a more rich multi-media content.
And then what else could I do by having a handle on my content? I can build it out into my training, speaking materials and more.
What do you think about building databases for content management as an entrepreneur? Am I overthinking this in my goal to identify new steps for my company? Happy hunting!
