To build off a little bit more on yesterday’s post all about my new online learning center and my teleseminar options, I am so proud to announce that my company, The Next Step, is providing training workshops for local NYC students aged 16-22 years old who qualified for the rigorous Ladders for Leaders program.
This program is offered through UAU (United Athletics Unlimited) and it is an honor and a pleasure to provide these workshops to the students who gained admittance to this program. Students picked for this program had to go through an application process, had to meet certain GPA requirements and also are interviewed. The potential jobs and career paths for these students are exciting and are great ways to help build their resumes and be ready for their next steps.
There is also a program for Summer Youth Employment (SYEP) and that program is for students aged 14-24 and you can still apply at Application to NYC SYEP (Summer Youth Employment Program) but note that the deadline is fast approaching - applications are due by April 29th, 2016. I speak a lot on this blog about how important it is to have work experience for my Blog University Advice Category and this is a great way to gain some experience and to have an income over the summer.
For my company's involvement with the program, I am developing and launching workshops around the following topics:
Yesterday was my “launch” of workshop 1, part 1 – so for 3 hours, I was lucky to host some amazing students and (I think) I gave them my all from my books, my real life lessons and my “teaching” methods on how to identify who you are and what you want to be when you grow up (yes, we all “hate” that question but not the way I ask it). I am so excited to be creating these workshops for the Ladders for Leaders program.
As a local, woman owned small business with expertise in launching in person and online classes based off of 13 years’ experience in higher ed classrooms, this is the perfect initiative for me to build out my training and consulting business. You can find out more about these parts of my business by clicking here online course (and training) curriculum development and here College and Career Readiness Seminars.
I will be updating these pages to provide real-world examples and integrating my new online learning center to the pages, as well. As I continue to build my business, I am realizing more and more how lucky I am to have some great resumes from my recent career fair attendance (more on that here) because I think I will be needed help with website and social media management sooner than anticipated.
What do you think about my new adventures – as an entrepreneur who also blogs, I provide in depth content around how things happen! I hope you are as excited as I am about this new training adventure I am on and stay tuned for my behind the scenes information on creating, launching workshops in person and online as an educator who is also an entrepreneur and an executive! Happy hunting!
